A CPR tip from a nurse entrepreneur

Isn't it a challenge to save someone's life? A job intended for doctors but a normal person can do? Then are you up with the challenge? - I am basically talking about the CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). Nowadays there are more and more people needing help and it is a must to be a good samaritan.

I am going to give a tip here that you can use anywhere else not just in the big US state. And this is the standard that the Emergency Medical Team is using. You might have knowledge from other sites and every time you visit you receive different strategies and lessons. From basic to advance then I shall reveal now.

Hints:
At the scene, do the ADPIE in nursing.
  • Assessment- this will include calling local emergency numbers for medical assistance
  • Diagnosis
  • Planning
  • Implementation
  • Evaluation
ASSESSMENT
For the assessment, note ABC.
  • Airway- check air passages
  • Breathing- check the rise and fall of the chest
  • Circulation-check the nailbeds, eyes, and soft tissues for blood distribution
DIAGNOSIS
-unresponsivenes

PLANNING
-CPR plan

IMPLEMENTATION
--CPR action

1. Give initial 2 breaths to check air passage (each should last about 2 seconds). If chest rises then you can successfully do the CPR continuously, if chest does not rise suspect for obstruction. Place patient sideways and try to insert your index finger removing the obstruction from the patients mouth, this is called "blind finger sweep" the purpose is to see if we can continue CPR or not. Do not do CPR once there is obstruction as this will lead to push further obstruction.

2. Given the 2 initial breaths, perform the proper pump now. Locate the xyphoid process of the patient, this is usually located at the bottom tip of the sternum (the central bony projection of the chest). Then from that point xyphoid process move up by 2 inces and place you palm. Remember to be at the patients right side so you can place your palm covering the left side (since our heart is mostly located on the left).

3. Pump for 30 with 2 breaths at the end. This means that you do pump 30 times and at the end of each cycle  deliver 2 blows of air to the victims mouth. When delivering the air blows make sure that you will do head tilt chin lift so the air will successfully pass through. The depth of the push should be 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches for a normal adult. Pump at 100/minute so to revive the patient.

4. This 30 pumps ratio is the same with one man CPR of two man CPR. In two man CPR, the one will pump and the other will deliver the blows. Continue until help arrives and until patient can recover. But please note not to overuse your strength as this could lead to rib fracture.

Notes:
  • CPR can damage the ribs causing rib fractures if not delivered successfully
  • Always be alert and ask others to help
  • Doing CPR is really tiring seems that you have gone for an extensive workout
  • Always put prayer in your action, nothing is impossible when you are asking help from above
EVALUATION
-status of the patient, hand him/her a glassful of soda or energy drink for acute recovery.

So, that is my personal rescue strategy doing CPR. This may be different from others but this will surely help you a lot!
