August 16 2011 shark attack in Seychelles

A newly wed husband got killed by a shark attack, a tragic story that anyone cannot escape. In line with my previous article http://thetravellernurse.blogspot.com/2011/08/august-1-shark.html, another victim of a shark attack ruptured this August.

Mr. Ian Redmond (the victim), and wife Mrs. Gemma Houghton had spent their honeymoon in Seychelles. Enjoying the richness of marine life in the island and the excitement of being newly weds had kept the couple happy. But one unexpected event happened, the wife took a sunbathing when she heard a shout of help coming from the sea. The victim was 20 yards offshore and attacked by an unmerciful shark. It was said that the victim was just snorkeling in the area but drastically the wild shark attacked him. He had lost his left arm and got a ripped left leg, with some bite wound on his stomach. He suffered severe blood loss and wasn't able to be revived by the rescuers.

This is a sad news and is really unforgettable. The Seychelles island which was designed to attract visitors but now it s hunted and everyone is afraid of. The previous shark attack was just the same month (August 1) when a Frenchman got killed with the same attack. Whilst the Seychelles authority tagged that a normal operation day and the death was not because of the shark. Now, they have nothing to hide. As a traveler nurse I am worried because of the downfall of the tourists to the island but really grieved for the loss of our brothers who are suppose to enjoy but did not acclaim the true worth of it.

Any place is a hazard. You should not think that only the islands has this but remember, anything can be dangerous. Your seatmate, classmate, neighbor, or others can be an instrument for something tragic, and it is up for us to take precautions. Tough one life is lost, still you need to move on. Be tougher, but take time. Do not motivate to cope well within a minute because losing someone is indeed a tough one. To the families that the victim had left, we would like to extend our condolence and we offer our prayers for them to recover then.

August 1 2011 shark attack in Seychelles

A french man, Mr. Nicolas Virolle (37 yo), a teacher died August 1 2011 because of a terrifying shark attack. The incident happened in Seychelles, an island intended for vacation. This island lies in the Indian ocean and is really a tourist attraction. Many and more people are seeing the wonders of this islands because of the hectic day in the city life, and supported by the fact that these wonders might soon disappears because of humanistic act as well as the revenge of nature so one cannot resist seeing these wonders before they gone.

The teacher, bumped of too much academic works in his country decided to plunge in the waters of Seychelles to unwind. He stayed in Anse Lazio Beach in Praslin (Praslin-an island in Seychelles) and was able to enjoy the true water nature. But as he was traversing and continuing his snorkeling, the unexpected incident happened. He was attacked by a shark around the area. There were no given detailed info regarding the shark but with the evidence that it had left, it is truly to be considered as a shark attack. He had been attacked on his stomach and legs leaving a massive open wound and excessive bleeding. He died because of impaired integrity on his internal organs causing much loss of blood.

One thing that Seychelles have done wrong was they kept silent and still decided to do the usual operation after the attack. Since there were limited to not at all witnesses, the case was treated like dump. Officials said that the cause of the death was because of engine outbreak or some distinct alibis not pointing to the shark attack. This mainly covers the truth behind the shark attack and still promoting vacation holidays to the island.

The authorities did a safe job, but it ended up causing one life on stake with no specific clues to which was the cause of the death. The family of the victim grieve and cannot accept what happened. But this is a fact not a rumor, a tragedy that we can consider. Our sincere condolences to the family that the victim had left and may God always be with him and to hi family. Only prayer is the weapon that we can offer, and that should keep our lives going. In this world, there is no such thing as certainty, everything may happen unexpectedly.
