This is based on a true story, just happened last night. (07 Aug 2011, around 9pm).
He was bruised, traumatized, but he survived. Arriving home at 1130 pm as my shift ends because of Ramadan timing, I saw my friend with the earlier description. "What happened?" I asked him, "I survived" he replied. Thirty minutes ago he was in the hospital recuperating with the condition that he is into. All staffs are amazed with him as he is a true survivor. They have shown sympathy and took care of him.
Two hours ago, he was in a tragedy. A traumatic experience here in Saudi. Two (undisclosed nationals) tried to take him in the car forcing him to give his money and valuables. Weighing on the situation, he cannot fight yet so he went inside, they were heading Jubail (an Industrial city, 1 hr 30mins travel) and we are from Dammam. Weighing again the situation for the second time, he fought. Luckily he was able to escape the non hearted assasins and jumped off the car. He was then helped by Indian nationals in the near area.
Two hours and thirty minutes ago , he was preparing some food stuff and decided to the grocery store. The grocery from our home is a 10 minute walk (less than 1 km). With his iphone with him and enjoying them music from his earphone, a sudden stop he felt with pounding nerve wrecking heart beats. Lab dub, Lab dub, lab dub...Two (undisclosed nationals) are the suspects and wanted to harm him.
Thank God, new life has been added, though he lost his ATM and Driver's license in the Phils, still he is alive and kicking. A true spirit of a Filipino legacy. This is a tragic story of my friend.
The next day, the news broke up and one Indian called at me and said, "You know what, you look like Bruce Lee so they won't be able to hurt you. While your friend, he is hmmmm "shakie". He said. I really laugh out loud when he said that. I do not know what is the real meaning but that is a layman's term for a soft hearted individual ( you know what I am trying to mean right?). I said to the Indian guy, "No". People have different personalities and each of us has its authority to control ourselves.
And that is the memorable word for this day. Shakie- created by an Indian and another word that we can submit for Indianisms.
